John Brock was born about 1510-1520 in the small village of Little Leighs,
Essex which is an area of tenant farmers and yeoman. A tenant farmer paid
rent for the use of land. To be known as a yeoman, one must acquired a reasonable
sized estate of freehold indicating enough wealth to buy property outright.
John Brock was in all probability of the yeoman status; some the details of
his grandson’s land acquistions and selling would strongly reflect this.
John married Agnes Wiseman probably 1530-1540. They had seven children

William Brock, son of John and Agnes (Wiseman) Brock was born probably in
Little Leighs, Essex in the 1540s. His will was proved 15 Jun 1599 at Bocking,
Essex; the County Essex is a gently rolling and historically fascinating country.
William Brock removed from Little Leighs and spent his life in Boxted and
Colchester, Essx. But keep in mind that County Essex is actually a small area,i.e.,
50 miles north to south and 60 miles east to west. William Brock married Margery
Bedell of Nottey, Essex. Bartholomew Brock, son of William, did “business”
with William Fitch including the purchase of Priors Hall, Parsonage Farm including
130 acres for L630 “of lawful money of England”.

in 1560s married on 24 Oct 1588 to John Reeve at Bocking,Essex. Their daughter
Ann marred Thomas Fitch.
